Thank you for your two posts of 13 March, especially I appreciate Special Order No. 33 of February, 1865, as it's concrete evidence of where two of the English guns went. Question is : had Thurber already turned-in the other two? or would he be ordered to do so subsequent to S.O. No. 33? or . . . ? You are doubtless aware that original ordnance reports no longer exist (though copies retained by responsible officers survive sporadically among papers), and all that survives "officially" are the so-called quarterly "Summary Statements" and those are apparently somewhat sketchy. Those film rolls are what I intend to get on interlibrary loan and go through. But I must get off my duff and actually execute the plan. If I can, perhaps I will be able to make a concrete contribution in the two months before your move.
