P. S. - I forgot to include on my last posting that I have seen no evidence the two 2.9" English rifles were ever removed from Company L during 1864. The battery was still a six-gun battery at the time of Price's Raid. It was never equipped with mountain howitzers. Pleasonton's report is just another countless erroneous statement by a non-artilleryman! The Britten shell which was found and attributed to Company L was dug at a post site occupied exclusively by the the battery for nearly all of 1864. The site was never occupied by the state militia battery.
P. S. S. - What was your interest in Company L, 2nd Missouri Light Artillery?
P. S. S. S. - This is my last posting on this thread as it has gone way off topic for a "Kansas in the Civil War Message Board!"
