Just thought i 'd let you know that I am a McGlennon and my grandfather Gerry was from Co Down. Ballinahinch to be more precise. I do not know what his father's name was. Gerry also had a bother called Harry, both fought on the Republican/nationalist side (IRA) during the troubles in the North (must have been 30's -50's)Gerry was interned in the Long Kesh for his troubles for a short period. he was a Bank Manager with the bank of Ireland (Clare)and eventually died in 1971.(We donated his pistol to the archives of the Bank of Ireland . He moved south to Clare (Miltown Malbay) around this time and was very much involved with Paddy Hilary in a political capacity. Paddy later became president of Ireland. Gerry had 2 sons Gerry and James(my father) and a daughter called Denise I think all were born by a second wife.James had 2 sons me and my brother James (who now lives in the US ).I stongly susepct that there could be a link in both families. Down is not that big a county and currently there are only a small number of Mc Glennons in Ireland....all related .
