Terry,

The information you had on Godwin was flawed. It had the wrong place of birth, and the marriage. It was removed the same day I posted my letter. If you wish to hide behind the remark "replacing information with updated information" fine. I'm not bothered Terry. I'm just grateful your man changed it.

I try not to lambast anybody if I can help it. With John I might have been too harsh, I regret that. His letters give me credit for men not connected to the Alabama men, and mentions Chris Old as their source. But the article you refer to was "written out of frustration" as it reads. Lets take Roy for instance. Included on his web at the time was an article on Samuel Henry taken from the Liverpool Echo which I had found, and was duly placed in the magazine dated 1989, and later on the web page of the Round Table. I had written to him about it and so did the Round Table, without replies to my notice. Roy has since apologised to me and the matter is closed.

To reach your site Terry I have to click on your name in the search engine, and it turns up so many hits with your name. I click on the site and up pops your roster compiled by you. Tell me Terry, who's name will be remembered, yours or the source? When people write a book, lets say Marvel, is his name remembered or the source? When I look at Samuel Henry under your roster, you quote the Liverpool Echo article. You fail to mention it was on the web page of the Round Table or my article in 1989. Of all the English newspapers Terry, how did you find this article in 1912? I sat for months looking through every issue of the Echo for 1912, how did you find it? Even his relatives didn't know about it.

I do make mistakes on the crewmen Terry, its just unfortunate I'm rushing things out before I've had time to gather the information in, before someone is claiming credit for it. I told Bob Jones some years ago not to do anything with the John O'Grady material I passed on to him. But did he listen. I've worked long and hard on this Terry, sometimes with help from the relatives, but most time on my own. I don't have people to help me like you do, or a web page. I would much sooner gather the information than publish what I have, but the past has shown me others are to quick to take advantage of it.

I still don't know why on earth I have no make myself accountable to you? I'm not a subject of Terry Foenander. I mention the documentaries because you alone doubt the work I've done on the crewmen. You give credit to others, when they did nothing. You don't wish to use my material, fine, then stop advertising it on your web page.
I chose the Alabama crew because nobody was interested in researching it, and now you won't to take over. Great. Have it Terry, I don't think I can compete with the amount of people, and books, you've got at hand.

If you read the Yonge article on the web Terry, you will clearly see the mention of November 1862 in one breath and January 1862 in another. Is this really anything to find fault with. Its clearly nit picking, and an insult to the reader who can clearly see a mistake in the web page. But lets get childish with this. If you remove the errors on your web page, I'll do the same with the Round Table ones?

I doubt the service of Risien on the Alabama Terry, I don't recall saying I doubt his naval service. I have many such claimants who claim to have served on the Alabama, some with discharge papers. But you fail to understand how many ships went under the name of Alabama in the 1860's. You mention the ORN, and yet affidavits of the crewmen are out there as you and I know. The National Archives in Washington, and in this country, also contains documents not published about the crew, so don't rule out the fact that all the documents on the Alabama went down with the ship. It will be interesting to see what information you can gather on Risien and prove me wrong. Or are we looking at another Haywood?

As to your Emails Terry, I haven't taken up your offer of late, due to the lambasting you gave to Jerry Williams and the Round Table last time. I gave their names out to prove my case of my work on the Alabama, its just as well I didn't give you Norman Delaney as well.
