William Simpson.
In Response To: Re: Crew of CSS Tuscaloosa ()

It has become quite clear to me now that your rejection of the service of William Simpson, because it is mentioned in "a newspaper," without much further research, shows your true level of research on the crew, especially with the proof I have that he did indeed serve.
I have stated once or twice before that the records of the CSN are far from complete, and it would be dangerous to assume to know all the crew members who served on the CSS ALABAMA, throughout her entire cruise.
You may state constantly that you have allotment papers, muster rolls (there is only one official roll, dated in July, 1863, in existence, and do not rely too much on the one in Sinclair's volume), etc., but you certainly don't have all the papers of every crew member, and are obviously unaware of the service of some.
It is pointless going to my CSN PERSONNEL web pages to search for anything on the CSS ALABAMA crew, as, if you had read my posting a couple of days ago, I clearly state that I have been compiling a separate roster of the CSS ALABAMA from numerous primary, obscure and published sources. All will be revealed in time.
