Sir: I don't know if this helps you at all re your 'Joseph Moonlight' query re the bible entry. Thomas had a brother, Joseph Kidd Moonlight, who was born in 1848 (and possibly died in his 50's in 1903 in Kinning Park, Glasgow). I can't help as to whether it's relevant, but I wondered if the handwriting you couldn't decipher as 'Kaild' could be Kidd.

I'm descended from Thomas's cousin, Alexander, whose brother - George Fairweather Moonlight - was by all accounts very close to Thomas. They supposedly worked the Californian goldfields together in the early years before George left America and headed to New Zealand (to become equally famous as a Pioneer in the New Zealand gold fields). I'm currently in dialogue with a Museum in New Zealand who hold three 'Moonlight' photographs, two of which they currently catalogue as 'Thomas' when I am certain they show George when compared with the digital images I have of Thomas.

Thank you for posting and sharing the information from the bible: it is one thing to be tracking down formal records information, and quite another when you find personal artifacts or photographs from the time! :o)
