Serendipity! What is left of the poor little town of Sweet Springs has a resident with professional background as a historian, Sam Blain Jr., who has been been providing articles to the local newspaper on area persons and families of historical note, Civil War history, and the like. I am making Sam aware of your posted letters. You have added some very interesting information. We'll do some digging and get back to you with anything additional we find that may be of interest. There are a number of other Pelots, all apparently related, who were also involved in the Civil War, other wars, and received military school or academy educations. Tracing the 19th century and Civil War exploits of people in my family - or families of other people I have known - makes history truly come alive.
Thanks so much....
