Was this the same J M. Pelot who was in the founding group of the Kansas Medical Society 1859? - and the same J. M. or James Malachi Pelot who fought for CSA S.C. (5th Infantry 1st Company D, 2nd Company D) and (Light Artillery 3rd (Palmetto) Battalion Company D, assistant surgeon) and (Gen. & Staff, assistant surgeon), the same J. M. or James Malachi Pelot who moved his family to Brownsville (now Sweet Springs), Missouri approx. 1870? The J. M. or James Malachi Pelot who moved to Sweet Springs, Mo. was born in South Carolina 1833 or 1834. There is a list of Pelot participation in the War Between the States: http://colket.org/genealogy/000_Confederate_Soldiers.html

Having grown up in Sweet Springs, we knew Dr. James Malachi Pelot's three youngest children and have several souvenirs of his life. All the Pelots were interesting in their own right - and Southern.
