After I posted my reply to you interesting query, I realized that a lady, Margaret Knecht, with the Kansas Historical Society may be able to offer some insight about Dr. Pelot. I periodically send the Society copies of the news articles which appeared in various S. C. papers during 1856, and she has been able to answer some of my questions about some of the names which appear. I am going to ask her when I send my next batch.

If you have not seen them, there is a series of letters written by Dr. Pelot which were posted on the Kansas Board through the summer.
