Marsha, I'm sorry I didn't address one of your questions. If those who died were buried at site? In many cases they would of been buried at the site.However it was a practice to dig them up after the war and put into national cemeteries.Many were not identified so might not help. In this case I would look at Memphis,TN..Some, if relatives could afford were sent home for burial as several in my family were. Good luck!
