Dave, is that book, LAST FLAG DOWN, a work of fiction, based on fact, or completely factual? I don't know if you have seen or read the volume of Whittle's journal aboard the CSS SHENANDOAH, titled THE VOYAGE OF THE CSS SHENANDOAH, with an extensive and thoroughly researched introduction by D. Alan Harris and Anne B. Harris, but a number of the entries do mention "Pattie" to whom he constantly refers to. I had always thought that this was actually "Bettie" Page, daughter of one of the CSN commanders, whom he eventually married and settled down with, but now, with your revelation from the volume LAST FLAG DOWN, I am not so sure about this. I will have to go back through the introduction by the Harris' to see if they make any mention of these ladies.
