Re: Commodore William C Whittle, Sr. 's Grave

Sure- William Conway Whittle was buried in the Whittle family plot in Magnolia Cemetery, Mt. Pleasent, Charleston, South Carolina. You're right about his death at Bent Mountain, now Virginia, then West Virginia. His headstone and the remainder of his bones were moved in April of 2005 by one of the cousins (Yeah, you with the white pickup truck). One of the other cousins down here in Florida keeps his skull. I do hope he just went visiting and this is not a permanent arrangement, he belongs in Magnolia with Uncle Dory, John Samuel Whittle and friend Dan Ruggles and the rest of them. Mind the snakes if you go visiting, see the groundskeeper and ask for location. Many of the graves were stripped of their headstones along Pershing Street in 2005. For what reason this occured I have no knowledge. Elizabeth Reed went missing (In Memory of Elizabeth Reed- Allman Brothers) It's a crime, graveyards have a spirit, this one's was stolen.
