Re: His son's grave?
In Response To: His son's grave? ()

I would be honored to tell you his whereabouts. In fact, I just visited his grave in Norfolk (retired law enforcement from there two years ago) and paid my respects as well. He is in Elwood Cemetary which is located off the 200 Blk. of E Princess Anne Rd. in the downtown area of Norfolk. The cemetary has two sections that are on both sides of the street (North & South). The easiest way to find it is to enter from the main southside-side entrance gate and make an immediate left as you enter on the first 'alley road' (as the cemetary keepers call it). Go about two rows down and look to your right down the second alley/road (it is really just a grassy/undeveloped space between plots about 30ft across used by city vehicles to mow/maintain). Leave your vehicle and walk about 50 yrds down the alley and you should find the Conway Whittle's Family plot on your right (small 1/2 ft stone wall w/ WHITTLE on the entrance step surrounds several relatives). He is one of three of the tallest headstones in the center. (I believe it was section 43 ??)If you have trouble finding it, there is a small office on the northside of the street that headquarters cemetary office and groundskeepers. There are usually there Mon-Fri--8 to 5pm if you happen to be going during that time and were very helpful assisting me with locating it the first time. ALSO, ther are other relatives, including his mother, brother, uncle, etc. that I found by chance, believe it or not, in the SINCLAIR family plot (who the Whittle's married into) that is towards the back of the cemetary approx two rows west of Conway and one south. Good luck and please don't hestate to ask if I can be of any further assistance!
