Ditto on the question. The Union naval officer present at the surrender of the Spray specifically stated that the torpedo boat had to be launched. An interesting question is what happened to her? The Viper was lost being towed in the Gulf, but I've never seen anything about the St. Marks boat. It's also interesting to consider that Lt. George Gift made a proposal earlier in the war to build torpedo boats at the Caroden foundry (Tallahasee?). The advantage of this site was a rail line running to St. Marks.
