I am doing some research on the private navy yard at Saffold, Georgia, that constructed the C.S.S. Chattahoochee in 1861-1862.

I've found a contract that the Confederate Navy let to the yard to build two more gunboats later in the war. Georgia newspapers from 1864 mention that construction was underway, but I've been unable to find anything that indicates how close the boats ever got to completion or whether they were actually launched or destroyed while still still ashore.

Any ideas?

(Note: the boats underway at Saffold should not be confused with the C.S.S. Jackson that was nearing completion up the Chattahoochee at Columbus at the end of the war.)
