Did Johnston have his own saw mill? You would think he would have needed one near the construction site. A number of mills were burned in the Milton and Bagdad Florida areas in 1862. Some of the machinery should have been salvagable and could have been refurbished for reuse as mills or as engines for the proposed small gunboats.
