It's really worth the read. This was written by the best military engineer the North had. Lee, arguably the best the South had in the military engineering department, never had a chance to build once he was saddled with the Army of Northern Virginia. He did some works for the Confederacy prior to his Virginia command. One fellow on another forum opted for Edward Porter Alexander as his favorite for engineer.
