It is impossible to view some of the records that are essential to complete understanding of the events that transpired in the 1861-1865 conflict that embroiled the U.S. and a great part of the world due to the fact that the records have been stolen. The ones I need were lifted from the National Archives in Washington, D.C. sometime in 1985.
It is with great joy that I read that a maggot, charged with the care of archiving the historical record in New York State, has been apprehended after years of selling documents on eBay and at shows. Daniel Lorello, 54, of Rensselaer, New York, was charged with grand larceny, possession of stolen property and fraud. He pleaded innocent in Albany City Court on Monday.
I wish this person a cold cell and interesting roomates over the years.
