I'll be cautious and propose that your assumption is wrong and that it well might be a 24lb. shell. I have seen the pictures and read discriptions of the ball as either a 12lb or 24lb type. I believe your records-- that it is a 24lb type and probably a shell. A 24lb. solid shot should have busted that church wall through. Instead, it barely penetrated the brick. It is better to believe it dangerous than assume that the good people of Rodney examined it thoroughly. It would not be the first time that harmless ammunition turned out to be dangerous. This should be investigated.
