Rodney WAS the first town north of Natchez on the Mississippi River, in the southwestern corner of MS. Originally called Petit Gulf, in contrast to Grand Gulf farther north. About 1876(?) the River moved a few miles west into Tensas Parish LA, and without water the town evaporated. In 1930 the governor formally dis-established the town. Some folks call it a ghost town, but I've heard that the remaining resident disputes that. Grin.
