My great-great-grandfather was in the 77th Ohio Infantry and captured, I believe, at Marks Mills. I am at work and don't have my family records with me so I'm doing this from memory at the moment.

His name was Andrew Jackson Masters and he held the rank of private.

Sometime after the war, he went back to Arkansas and homesteaded 40 acres, receiving a small pension for damaged eyesight caused by scurvy incurred as a prisoner of war.

I found your site while doing a search for images of the uniforms worn by the 77th Ohio. I have a photograph of my ancestor and I believe he is in a military uniform but the photo is only of the chest up and there is no military insignia visible. I would appreciate it if anyone could refer me to a site which shows the 77th Ohio uniforms for the common soldier.
