In checking the background of Lt. Col. L. Jewell I see that he was commissioned on August 11th, 1861 as a Captain of Company D, Frontier Battalion, District of Ft. Scott. Do we have any rosters of this organization or any strength returns? What do we know of this organization? Apprently Jewell was two weeks later commissioned a Lt. Col. in the 6th Kansas. It would appear that D company of the Frontier Battlion was organized in and about Cato, which I believe was south of Ft. Scott near the Neutral Lands. Help!
