I found 2 of my ancestors listed in R. Donnelys book of Service Records of Naval and marines.
Ayers,Lewis. Co. E Marines...Private enlisted 3/4/1864
On duty with company until hospitilized 12/22/1864.
Died as a pow in post hospital..Savannah..from chronic diarrea..buried at Laurel Grove cemetary..Savannah
Residence of Franklin County,GA..age 45 in 1864
Ayers,John C. Co.E Private enlisted in Savannah 3/4/1864
On duty with co. thru 10/31/1864 no further record
also Im 99% sure this was my gggrandfathers bro-in-law
Adams, A.A. private enlisted 3/4/1864..on clothing receipt rolls Co. E 2d qtr. 1864...Deserted 8/11/64..arrested and returned by conscription officer...9/30/64 on duty with company 10/31/64...no further record
Looking in the official records of the war..i found Adams and JC Ayers names on the muster rolls for CO E marines..but not Lewis...found it interesting they all enlisted the same day... David
