Roy, that photo of the CSS Alabama which you have placed at your web site looks suspiciously like a copy of the one that is in the possession of Mr. Lee, of Singapore. It seems that you have cropped out the copyright notice shown on the photo, below the white roofed dwelling in the lower left hand corner of the photo, but a bit of the top of the letter "S" can still be seen just below that dwelling. I know that the only other known photo, in the possession of the Tennessee State Archives, is of much poorer quality, and is obviously not the same one at your web site. Mr. Lee was previously quite unwilling to correspond with others about this photo, because of the fear of such abuse of the image by others. I have already advised him of the one at your web site, and I am sure he will take action if you have used it without his permission. Many web sites do not give any citation about photos or other such items, but people should be made aware that legal action can be taken if improper use is made of such items, without the express permission of the original owners.
I have a copy of the one belonging to the Tennessee Archives amongst my papers, and will check to see if it compares to the one at your web site, and will advise Mr. Lee of the result, but I am certain that the one you have used is the copy of Mr. Lee's CSS Alabama image.
