This isn't really a Civil War question but...

On post-war maps, just southeast of Elgin KS is a spot identified as "Proposed New Post 1867". It appears to be just across the line in the Indian Territory at or near what is called "Artillery Hill". In 1867, this was the new Osage Reservation where the Osage were moved from KS onto Cherokee land (the Cherokee Outlet) after the war.

Does anyone know anything about this proposed post or where I might search?
