Re: Beverly James Dickerson killed in Indiana

I would think that Beverly was buried in Franklin but he had lived in Lexington KY for about 20 years and before that in Mercer and Washington Co., KY where he was born. It's likely that Martha died, I doubt she would have left her young children to remarry. I searched for her and came up with nothing and then found some of her children in Howard Co. MO. I thought Beverly's death was because he may have had an enemy due to being City Marshall, because he was an outspoken rebel or possibly related to the lawsuit he was traveling to in Lexington, KY. I tried to find out more about the lawsuit but didn't know the names of the people involved or what it was about. It is possible he was aiding the rebels in some way as his brother William's sons were with the Confederates (Poindexter and the guerrillas) in Howard Co., MO and at least two of the boys spent time at Alton prison about the time he was killed.
