B.J. Dickerson was a civilian, and City Marshal of Franklin, In. He did not serve in the Civil War on either side. When he was killed in 1863, his youngest daughter, Amanda Francis Dickerson (Franka) went to live with his sister Amanda Dickerson Springgate. The 1870 Census shows her as a 9 year old son of William P. Springate and Amanda Dickerson, but that isn't the case. She was Amanda's niece.
