I now have the roster of the men who served in the 8th VSC and the companies they were under. I have not found which companies served as guards at Camp Douglas and which ones did other things like cooking, hospital duty etc. There doesn't seem to be much on them unless you go under a PA site and it reads like it is about PA boys(men).
The guards at Camp Douglas were horrible to the Confederates there. I know the guards at all the prisons were bad but it appears the Camp Douglas guards were worst then most.
Thanks again for the information. Maybe I'll be able to find more now that I have a commanding officer!
