What I have found I don't think it was called the 8th Ill Invalid Corp. I think it was the 8th Veterans Reserve Corp...no state. Mustered in at Chicago. It appears that if I want a roster I'll have to go to the rosters of the Units that made up the 8th. He doesn't even have a commander to look up to find more on the Unit.

If I find anything that others might be interested in I'll post it. I know the "Grey Beards" were guards at Rock Island and then later were sent into service towards the end of the war. They were from Iowa.
