Norma,
A final note on Isaac Adams in the event that you don't already have it. He was in Company K, 125th Illinois Infantry as you know which on September 1, 1864 was commanded by Lt. O. P. Hunt about whom I am writing a book. I find that in my files, there is a note that Adams was wounded in the left leg by a confederate artillery shell when company K attacked the confederate position at Jonesboro, Georgia on that day. The Battle of Jonesboro was the last fight of the Atlanta campaign. The day after it ended in a Union victory, the confederate forces holding Atlanta abandoned the city. Adams was eventualy sent to the General Hospital in Chattanooga where his leg was amputated. He died there nearly two months later as you know on November 4 probably from an infection which would have been fairly common at that time due to the primitive state of medical knowledge. The source of my notes were the descriptive books of Company K, 125th Illinois Infantry which are held by the National Archives in Washington.
