To Edward Cotham,
My Great Grand Father was seaman Thomas McCann. He was not listed as wounded when arriving at Camp Ford. D.D.T.Nestell's deposition decribed how he had been injured by a piece of wood from a staunchen that had been struck by enemy shot and that he had been under his care during the imprisonment. The only paper I have from his prison time states that he was to have been paroled at Red Bank, but was absent. At the Archives based on that I was told he died in the camp. The microfilm of his duty card listed in addition to the USS Clifton the Monongahela. The log book of the Monongahela indicated dates they picked up paroles in New Orleans, which corresponded with the dates GGF mentioned in his own deposition.
