Thank you for the information, Mr. Upton.
The site of the Marshall House on Cameron St. in Alexandria is now occupied by a Holiday Inn.
Several relics from this incident are held by the Smithsonian Institute, one of them being some cloth from Mr. Jacksons flag. It appears to be red on the monitor, I was under the understanding that it was the Bonny Blue that flew.
The largest Confederate Flag I'd ever seen myself was the flag made to fit the wall of the Richmond Arsenal. It survived the war and an aircraft crash in the early 1970's. I believe it is still around somewhere.
The flag from the CSS Shenandoah is on display in the Confederate Museum in Richmond. This was the last wartime flag to be hauled down, Nov. 5, 1865.
