Hello,Mr. Upton- The subject of your first paragraph is much on my mind and is current due to the recent court decision regarding private property. Ellsworth had no warrant to enter private property, other than his orders and his strong convictions.I will probably spend next weekend researching both. The passing of the secession ordinance may have been taken as an act of treason, though it represented, by vote, a majority opinion.

The movements into Charleston Harbor don't make much military sence to me. The whole gambit seems to have been to overshadow the fact that the contention began on private property. Fort Sumpter was public property.

Anyone have a clue as to where Mr. Jackson is buried?
