Hello- The first shots fired in Mr. Lincoln's war were in the City of Alexandria, Va. An innkeeper hoisted the Bonny Blue over his inn and disregarded orders from Federals to haul down the secessionist banner. Shotguns were discharged on the staircase of the inn. The flag came down. The building is still there.

(Iomitted to mention in its proper place that the bombardment of Fort Sumpter, which began the war, took place on the 12th of April (Friday). This began the war. Lincoln immediately called out 75,000 men, whereupon Virginia seceded, accompanied by Arkansas and Tennessee.)
