Thanks Daniel. I was unaware those were published and I think the articles will help locate other related documents. Now I'm going to have to go back and re-read and compare to understand who was where when. Seems the astonomical party split from Johnston if he crossed the Caney ("Little Verdigris") in southern Washington Co. OK and the astronomers were near the source of the Little Verdigris, which would be northwest of Elgin KS.
