I think we are only touching on the real depth of the secret society issues involved with the Price Raid as well as the national overview. In my recent research I have uncovered the names of a number of southern men captured at Kansas City and Mine Creek that were ordered executed by General Rosecrans, but weren't, while others were. The reason normally given was being caught in Union blue. The real issues were sparked out of what Timothy Reeves did in executing members of the 3rd MSM during the time of Pilot Knob. Yet a number of confederate officers, such as Major Enoch Wolfe, captured at Mine creek, were ordered executed but eventually weren't because of their ties to one or more secret societies. The secret society issue was very much a part of the Price Raid, but to what measureble effect: that is yet to be determined. Certainly for those who were slated for execution and managed to avoid it because of their affiliations can say, 'It had a measureable effect.'
