On pgs 207-8 of Buresh's book is the Federal order of battle. Col Thomas Moonlight commanded the 2nd Brigade of MG Blunt's Provisional Cavalry Division. This 2nd brigade included the 11th KS Cav, Moonlight's Rgt., 2 Cos of 5th KS Cav, 2 Cos of 16th KS Cav, a battery of howitzers and the 11th Rgt, KSM (under Col A.J. Mitchell). BG W.H.M. Fishback is listed as an advisor to Col Charles W. Blair who commanded the division's 3rd brigade. Though your ancestors may not have been in the actual charge at Mine Creek, they were a part of the overall campaign, and the citizens of Mound City, KS, were delighted with the arrival of Moonlight's brigade in case the Rebs moved in that direction.
