Mine Creek, 25 Oct 1864

Help needed ---- for I'm trying to determine if my g,grandfather, John Andrew FLORA (1845IN-1934KS), was at Mine Creek engagement, 25 Oct 1864.

KSHS, most recently, provided me copies of materials including PAY ROLL for Company F, 11th Reg KSM, 14 Oct to 16 Nov 1864 showing brothers "V P" and John A FLORA actively served 30 days during Mine Creek engagement of 25 Oct 1864.

Can it be determined if they were at Mine Creek for that decisive, less than one hour, battle?

I've seen that the 300 from Lyon Co, along with others of other counties, were sent to Paola, making up a group of 2,072 troops.

Their brother, Daniel R B FLORA, is of record serving in Co C, 7th Cav from Feb 1864 to Sept 1865. I understand they too were at Mine Creek Oct 25th.

William G Cutler says J A FLORA was in Company C(?); <http://www.kancoll.org/books/cutler/labette/labette-co-p15.html> was involved with capture of Gen Marmaduke, but then Nelson Case says John's service was elsewhere, which we are unable to confirm; (http://skyways.lib.ks.us/genweb/archives/labette/1901/f/floraja.shtml).

Daniel R B (23) & John A (17) FLORY (FLORA) are listed in Sep 1862 on Census List being in 6th Reg Indiana, said list so ordered by Lincoln in Bartholomew County, Indiana where they lived before moving to Kansas. Their father John FLORA (62) IS of record serving in Co C, 6th Reg Indiana Infantry, 20 Aug to 14 Feb 1863.

Can someone advise me?

Thank you for your trouble,

Bill
