William Letchworth Birney was my great-grandfather. My brother and I have a pistol, knive, powder holder, medal, picture in his Civil War uniform, and various papers that he had relating to his army service as a scout and supply master. He practiced medicine in this area for 45 years, and his son, my grandfather, was also a physician.
