Hello Mr. Wiseman,

Most surprised and pleased to receive notice that you posted the roster of Co. E, 17th Indiana. "Doc" Birney, as I have learned to know more about him, studied medicine after the war in Columbus, Ohio and eventually migrated to Ralls/Marion Counties, Missouri about 1873 where he started his practice of medicine. He married in 1878 as his second wife, my great Aunt, Priscilla Bush, who was a school teacher there in Ralls Co., Mo.
