Henry F. Diaz, NOAA, and Jose Fernandez-Partagas, a consultant, published "A Reconstruction of Historial Tropica Cyclone Frequency in the Atlantic from Documentary and Other Historical Sources 1851 to 1880," in 1995. I have Part 1: 1851-1870. In Appendix: Sorts of 1858-1864, pages 46-47, they document "Storm 3, 1863 (Aug. 19-23). Quoting ships logs (not Bainbridge, but vessels in or skirting the storm), and various New York Times articles, dated 8/25/1863, 8/26/1863, 8/27/1863, 8/29/1863, 9/1/1863, 9/4/1863 (multiple articles on some of them), The (London) Times, 9/12/1863.
