Thanks for the comments, and thanks for the information about the picture on page 179. I'd always thought that must have been a Walke sketch, but I had never known for sure. Interesting - an artist who wasn't there, drawing a picture from a description given him by a man who wasn't there, of some boats that weren't there. David Porter continues to amaze me.
