Got "Earthen Walls, Iron Men" delivered yesterday. Great-looking book; have only had a chance to rapidly thumb through it so far, but I'm looking forward to reading it. I was intrigued to see several images I've never seen before; in particular, the first of the three images of INDIANOLA looks far more realistic/likely, given what is known of her semi-sisters CHILLICOTHE and TUSCUMBIA, than the usual Parke-derived illustration.
Also noted the sketch attributed to Porter of the action involving the "Wooden Dummy." I wasn't aware that Porter did much sketching... interesting! Of course, since there was no way Porter could have witnessed it, it's completely invented (not that that would stop D.D. Porter! lol ); but it's interesting to see how he drew the "dummy."
