Susan, actually, my interest is mainly on the personnel of the entire Confederate States Navy and the Marine Corps, and especially their biographies. I am trying to compile these mainly from first hand accounts and documentation. Obviously this will never be complete. I am residing in Melbourne, in Australia, so obviously do not have as much access to the proper research material that you, there in the United States do. Also, much of the material on many of the personnel of the cruisers, especially those purchased and which operated out of Great Britain, would also be available there, in British resources.
By the way, I do believe that Miles J. Freeman actually passed away in New Jersey in 1885, as I did come across a web site, which indicated as much. If you do a google search for the name of "Miles J. Freeman" you will come upon this web site, and you may want to contact the site author for the details he has.
As a descendant, would you happen to know what his middle initial, "J" stood for, please?
