Ron.....you are a wealth of information and I value you more than you know as a friend and tutor/mentor. A had a lengthy conversation the other day with the fellow that built my gun carriage, limber, and ammo chest. His name is Ben Miller and lives in Parrottsville (ironic?), TN just outside of Knoxville. He lives on Wheelright Lane. Which I am sure is a private road that he named. He started as a wheelright and wagon builder. Then branched out to gun carriages and associated rolling stock. A true craftsman that has reasonable prices and awesome customer service. His website is www.millercannons.net. I'm hauling my gun carriage back to him in a few weeks for new cheeks and a total restoration. Virginia weather has been brutal on the carriage and he made me an offer I couldn't refuse. During one of our lengthy telephone conversations discussing artillery and guns that are on NPS property, I asked if he knew what a false Napoleon was. He said that he had never heard of the term. I explained it to him and he was in awe. Do YOU know what a "False Napoleon" is? I'll bet you do. You might have been the person that told me. Thanks for all of your input and friendship. I'll stay in touch. You and I alone can keep this message board alive. Haha. How is your research and writing going on Shiloh?
