Hi Frederick.....We hit the auction on the spur of the moment. I really just wanted to see the 4 gun tubes and document their origin. I did see that Smith's Carbine. It was nice indeed. And even though I didn't get a close look and touch I knew the flag was not period or naval. I agree with you on the economic situation having a great affect on the items that were sold. But I really thought those 3 inch rifles would have gone for more. I was standing near the podium and thought my prices were correct. The two iron guns were sold by phone bids. I know the auctioneer was asking $22K and $20K but I didn't think they sold that high. Do you know where this collection came from. I have two good ideas but I'm really not positive. Sorry I didn't get to meet you there. Maybe we'll bump into each other at some future time.
