Thanks Tim. We've found no enlistment information on him (David Files Rice) but he was in Demopolis for an 1860 election roll. Next note is a family Bible notation "killed in service to the Confederacy, Walker Co GA, 1864" (Rome)

Oddly, there was a David P. Rice in the courthouse raid in Rome in 1864, but this fellow survived the war. There are 16 'unknowns' from that battle buried there too. Its all a bit of a mystery!

If he turns up in Tennessee in later on, I wouldn't be surprised. P
