The Ohio in the Civil War Message Board

Re: Civil War Data site for Ohio

David...the listings for soldiers in the CWData database are from enlistment and muster records and will not contain the genealogical information you are seeking. However I did check J.J. Myers information and found this:

John J. Myers enlisted Jan 11 1864 as a Private in Co I of the 113th OVI. He mustered out July 6 1865 at Louisville KY. He was age 39 at the time of his enlistment which is not common. Men of this age would likely have a wife and family. Do you know if John J. Myers did?

I also found a Jacob Myers, aged 31, in Co I of the 113th as well. He enlisted in Sept of 1862 and died of wounds he received at Kennesaw Mt GA in 1864. He is shown as being buried at Chattanooga National Cemetery.
It is possible he could be a younger brother.

Co I of the 113th was raised in late 1862 primarily from men of Franklin and Hamiliton counties. This would likely include Jacob Myers but not necessarily John J. who was a later enlistee and may not have been from those areas.

I did not find a listing for John J. Myers in the SUVCW on-line graves registration database. Do you know where he he is buried?
