Re: 13 Ohio Volunteer Cavalry
In Response To: 13 Ohio Volunteer Cavalry ()

I first must apologize for a commom error I have made and it is that the proper term is Cavalry and not Calvary. The term is seldom used in Canada as we refer to historical horse units as Mounted (thus the term Mounties as our National Police Force)

Thank you Mr. Sturkey for your information, I am gathering all I can. Your comments regarding the openess of the land at Little Big Horn are very true as I live on the great plains 100 miles north of the US Canadian border and visibility is anywhere up to 10 miles on the flat and on a hill up to 20 or more. It is a common joke that you can watch your dog run away for 3 days.

For thousands of men and horses to be hidden somewhere as the Indians had is a tribute to the knowledge of the terrain and the probable theory that they had spotted Custer days before he arrived and plotted his path. The land is beautiful and seems endless and there is always something over the next hill............. sometimes not always something good.
