Does the reference to Goodnight Spring come from a first person document? The 21st MI was some distance from the Goodnight farm during the battle. We do have some archeological evidence of a Federal [MI] encampment near that site which we presume to be a post battle guard detail for the CS hospital unit left behind. Lt. Burritts' wound would most likely have been received on Peters Hill, either in the early morning as Sheridan advanced the Division toward Bottoms Hill or in the late afternoon as Sheridan defended Peters Hill against Powells' attack.
